Pultrusion Machine
The pultrusion machine combines reinforcing materials such as glass fiber or carbon fiber with resin matrix materials (such as unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin, etc.) and continuously pultrudes them in a mold to form composite material profiles of various specifications and shapes. These profiles are widely used in construction, transportation, electricity, the chemical industry, ocean and other fields, and have the advantages of being lightweight, high strength, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance.
TechnoFRP‘s pultrusion machine adopts PLC control and LCD display. It is a complete production unit integrating hydraulic reciprocating traction and pneumatic fixed-length cutting. The overall unit consists of a yarn frame, a dipping tank, a mold table, a reciprocating traction machine, a cutting saw, a product support frame, a control system, etc. Equipped with a variety of molds, it can produce profiles of different cross-sectional sizes, such as wire troughs, round bars, I-beams, angle steels, square tubes, round tubes, hollow plates, bridges, photovoltaic brackets, photovoltaic frames, etc.
Main features of pultrusion machine
• High level of automation: A PLC control system is adopted to realize the automatic equipment operation, reduce manual intervention, and improve production efficiency.
• Large traction force: The crawler traction machine provides a stable traction force, which makes it suitable for pultruding large or hollow profiles.
• Variable frequency speed regulation: The traction system adopts variable frequency speed regulation technology, which can flexibly adjust the speed according to production needs to achieve energy-saving operation.
• Integrated design: It integrates functions such as yarn rack, dipping, preforming, mold forming and curing, continuous pultrusion, traction and automatic cutting to form a complete production line.
• Production flexibility: The process parameters can be adjusted according to different raw materials and product specifications, which is suitable for producing various composite products.
• High cutting accuracy: It is equipped with an automatic cutting machine that can accurately cut the profile according to the set size.
• Simple operation: The human-machine interface is friendly, and the operator can easily master the equipment’s operation method.
The structure of the pultrusion equipment
The composition of the pultrusion machine includes several key parts, each with a specific function to ensure the continuous production of high-quality composite profiles. These components work together to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the pultrusion process, enabling the pultruder to mass-produce a variety of high-performance composite profiles. The following are the main components of the pultrusion machine:
1. Creel:
This is the starting part of the pultrusion equipment, which stores glass fiber, carbon fiber, or other reinforcing fiber coils. The creel ensures the fiber is continuously and evenly supplied to the next step.
2. Resin impregnation tank:
The fiber is fully impregnated with resin (such as unsaturated polyester resin or epoxy resin) through the impregnation tank, which is usually equipped with a guide device to ensure that the fiber passes smoothly and is evenly impregnated.
3. Preforming device:
The impregnated fiber bundles enter the preforming device and are initially formed into the general outline of the product. This process can arrange the fiber bundles neatly and initially remove excess resin.
4. Forming die (heating die):
This is the core part of the pultruder. The fiber bundle impregnated with resin enters the heated mold, where the fiber and resin are cured and formed into the final profile shape through heat and pressure. The temperature, pressure and length of the mold play a key role in the quality and curing speed of the profile.
5. Traction system:
The traction system continuously pulls the cured profile out of the mold and maintains a constant speed and tension. It usually consists of clamping devices or crawlers to ensure a stable pultrusion process and consistent profiles.
6. Cutting system:
The continuous profile after curing and forming is cut to a set length in the cutting system. The cutting system can be manual or automated to meet the production needs of different lengths and specifications.
7. Control system:
The pultrusion machine is equipped with a control system to adjust the temperature, pultrusion speed, tension and other parameters to ensure the automation and stability of the production process. Modern pultruders are usually equipped with PLC controllers for precise operation control.
Applications of pultrusion machine
The composite material profiles produced by pultrusion equipment have the advantages of lightweight, high strength and corrosion resistance, so they are widely used in the following fields:
1. Construction and infrastructure:
The production of building components such as bridges, plank roads, guardrails, handrails, stair treads, platform brackets, etc., is particularly suitable for engineering projects in coastal and corrosive environments due to its corrosion resistance and high strength.
2. Transportation:
Manufacturing structural parts of automobiles, trains and ships, such as lightweight brackets, beams, pedals, carriage frames, etc., to reduce the weight of the vehicle body and improve fuel efficiency.
3. Electricity and communications:
Pultruded profiles are used to produce cable trays, cable protection tubes, insulating rods, communication towers, lightning protection facilities, etc. They are also insulation and corrosion resistant, ensuring long-term safe and reliable use.
4. Chemical and environmental protection:
Chemical equipment such as pipelines, storage tanks, fans, cooling towers, and other anti-corrosion devices is widely used in chemical and sewage treatment plants and is suitable for handling corrosive media.
5. Marine engineering:
The production of offshore platforms, pontoons, docks, ship accessories, etc., is an ideal material for structural parts in marine environments due to its strong resistance to seawater corrosion.
6. Agriculture:
Used in greenhouse frames, agricultural trellises, and irrigation systems, pultruded profiles are weather-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and lightweight in agricultural environments.
7. Sports Equipment and Leisure Facilities:
Produces lightweight and durable sports equipment such as trekking poles, fishing rods, ski poles, and tent stands. It is also used in parks and water recreation facilities.
These application areas demonstrate the versatility and breadth of composite profiles produced by pultrusion equipment, especially for applications that require lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance.
